The Dreamer, the Killer, and the Reader
A Choose Your Own Adventure Story
Surrendering your awareness of the real world and allowing yourself to fall fully into the world of this dream, you intentionally uncurl your fingers from the rocky lip of ledge that supports all of your weight. It’s surprisingly easy - your body doesn't seem to have the same sense of reluctance to let gravity take its course as it usually would.
Your last finger slips, and you fall. Air rushes up past your face and you see the shocked face of the woman above you rapidly dwindle until you are swallowed completely by darkness.
You aren’t sure how long it takes for you to hit the ground. But one second, you’re hanging in the air, oddly serene, and the next you’re laying in a heap on the ground, body broken. There’s no pain, but as you try to look around you find yourself unable to move. Your neck jerks oddly when you turn your head, and your vision fuzzes with the distinct sensation of disconnect between body and mind. Once again, you realize you’re dreaming.
